In conjunction with u:move’s latest event at the Mosaic Lounge in the Power and Light District on Thursday May 28 featuring Treasure Fingers, the locally-based dance record label, Think 2Wice, will be celebrating their release of Norrit’s Feel The Remix EP. Norrit, a Lawrence, KS producer also known as Iggy Baby, has accumulated quite a bit of blog love over the past couple of years, for what it’s worth. However, his brilliant flip of KC hip hop act, Royce Diamond’s “Everybody Move,” which appeared on Norrit’s The Rhythm EP, is probably the best thing since sliced bread. Ok, maybe not. But it is a shining example of what can happen when local hip hop artists work with local dance producers all in the name of the party. One writer from XLR8R Magazine even suggested that “Move” was “one of the best party tunes of 2008, hands down.” Beyond my obvious craze for this song, the new EP from Norrit features some pretty nutty remixes of other tracks previously heard on The Rhythm EP from the likes of White Girl Lust, B.Rich, Dubbel Dutch, Phosho and Norrit himself. With styles ranging from juke to rave, dark to disco, Feel The Remix is bound to bust heads open from clubs coast to coast and beyond. Thursday night at Mosaic is turning out to be a can’t miss event, in itself. We will see you on the dance floor.
